Humboldt is a city located in portions of Gibson and Madison Counties in Tennessee, and according to the 2010 census the population was 8,452. It is the largest city in Gibson County and was named after Alexander von Humboldt, a German naturalist. This city is made up of 9.7 square miles of total area, all of which consists of land, and it is the principal city of the Humboldt, Tennessee. The climate of Humboldt is characterized by humid and hot summers and moderately cold winters with an average snowfall of about five inches per winter.
Humboldt is home to a variety of attractions that may be of interest to residents and visitors of this city. Each year, the city hosts the West Tennessee Strawberry Festival during the first full week in May. Some of the events include musical venues, a barbecue cook-off, a car show, a horse show, and many others. The Crown Winery is located here, as is the Humboldt Plaza Theater. Outdoor recreational opportunities are also available in this region of the state, including Humboldt’s Bailey Park.
